SUMMARY:Examen de Grado de Doctorado
DESCRIPTION:Localised structures and pattern formation in heterogeneous nonlinear systems\nJuan Marín Medina (PUCV)\nEl Resumen de tesis es:\nIn this thesis\, we investigate remarkable phenomena in nonlinear systems associated with intrinsically non-linear heterogeneities\, motivated by real-world situations. We study the nonlinear dynamics in parametrically driven systems and its applications in the context of hydrodynamics and magnetic materials. Using the normal form method\, we derive the evolution equation governing the nonlinear saturation of localised Faraday patterns induced by a Gaussian-like parametric injection. In magnetic strips with a localised perforation\, the trapping of domain walls (line solitons) is investigated using the parametrical sine-Gordon model. In the quasi-reversible limit of this equation\, we report the formation of sine-Gordon soliton bubbles and drops due to local internal mode instabilities for a given family of heterogeneous external forces. Theoretical findings are in good agreement with numerical simulations and experiments. Interpretations and possible applications of the observed phenomena in the context of hydrodynamic instabilities\, nanoscience\, cosmological models of the Universe and biophysics are given. \n  \nLa Comisión de Tesis está constituida por:\nMónica García-Ñustes (PUCV)\, Director \nRené Rojas Cortes (PUCV)\, Referente Interno \nJorge Noreña (PUCV)\, Referente Interno \nMajid Taki (Université de Lille 1\, Francia)\, Referente Externo \n  \nViernes  30 noviembre 2018\, 14:00 hrs \nAuditorio de Facultad de Ciencias\, 1° piso\, Campus Curauma – PUCV \n
